The best home builder websites show finished homes by name and town, explain the build process step by step, say exactly where the company builds, make the inquiry form easy, and show awards with the program and year. Below are 11 real custom home builder and design-build remodeler websites that do this well, what each one does best, and what you can copy for your own site. We opened every site on November 4, 2026. None of these companies is a client of ours, and we didn't build any of these sites.
How we picked them
We looked for custom builders and design-build remodelers whose websites mostly show national or regional recognition (NAHB, Best in American Living, Contractor of the Year and similar programs), and kept the ones where at least one part of the site is worth copying. They range from a single-market custom builder in Houston to a network of franchised builders and a remodeler working across three markets. Each entry links to the page that shows the feature.

The 11 examples
1. Homoly Design + Build, Kansas City
NAHB named Homoly Design + Build its 2025 Custom Home Builder of the Year, and the homepage says so near the top. Further down, the homepage walks through ten steps from design kickoff to move-in. Steps 2 through 7 list what the client approves at that point: framing and cabinet locations, mechanical, electrical and plumbing marked on the floor, then trim, paint and tile samples. The Where We Build page lists 40 neighborhoods and towns by name, from Brookside and Leawood to Lake of the Ozarks. Project pages carry the town in the title, and a free luxury home magazine download sits on the homepage with the text-message consent line written out.
What to copy: put the client's decisions into each process step, and list the neighborhoods you build in by name.
2. Living Stone Design + Build, Asheville
Living Stone has a custom homes page and a renovations page for each market it serves: Asheville, Cashiers-Highlands, Lake Norman, Charlotte, Greenville and Johnson City. The Asheville page reads like it was written for Asheville. It shows award-winning local projects with the award named under each, lists its recognition by year (including NAHB National Custom Home Builder of the Year for 2023), and answers local questions in an FAQ. Those answers are specific: mountain lots can add grading, engineered foundations and septic work; most projects run 14 to 24 months from design completion to move-in; and the firm builds on the client's land. A separate awards page groups its awards by program.
What to copy: if you build in more than one market, give each one a page with answers that only apply there.
3. Loudermilk Homes, Atlanta and Cashiers
The homepage opens with a running strip of recognition, starting with "3-Time NAHB National Custom Home Builder of the Year Finalist." NAHB lists the company as a 2025 finalist. The Completed Homes page is the standout: each home has a name, a style (Modern European, Mountain Modern, Modern Tudor), square footage, bedrooms, baths, the year it was delivered and its location. The 9-Step Process page explains each stage in plain sentences, from the design questionnaire to a final walkthrough against a 500-point inspection, and mentions the client portal where schedules and selections live. The page ends with a promise to respond within one business day.
What to copy: a short spec line on every project, and a stated reply time next to the inquiry button.
4. BOWA, Virginia, Maryland and DC
BOWA is a design-build remodeler, and its project pages are grouped by type: kitchens, bathrooms, additions, condominiums and whole-house remodels. Almost every project title names the town, such as "Whole-House Renovation in Great Falls, VA" or "Tudor Whole-House Remodel in Chevy Chase, MD." The inquiry form first asks how BOWA can help (a new project, customer service, a purchase consultation and other options), then asks "How did you hear about BOWA?" with a list of answers that includes referral from a client, a realtor, signage and search. The service areas page lists towns by county. The awards page says BOWA has won more than 50 Contractor of the Year awards since 1992.
What to copy: the town in every project title, and a "how did you hear about us" question on the form so you know what is working.
5. Hammer & Hand, Portland and Seattle
Hammer & Hand publishes its Best Practices Manual on its website: the construction details it uses for flashing, sealant joints, windows and doors, rain screens, building envelopes, roofs, basements and crawlspaces. The manual is addressed to its own employees and to other builders. For a homeowner choosing a builder, it shows how the firm works before the first meeting. The portfolio filters by residential and woodshop work, and projects are named by neighborhood (Queen Anne, Wallingford, Irvington). The footer lists both offices with their Oregon and Washington contractor license numbers.
What to copy: publish something that shows how you build, and put your license numbers where people can find them.
6. London Bay, Southwest Florida
London Bay's custom homes page answers the questions buyers ask before a first meeting: what the process looks like, how long a custom home takes, whether the design can be fully customized, whether interior design is included and how the company builds for the coastal climate. The site also has articles written for its own market, such as "8 Essential Costs of Building a Custom Luxury Home in Naples Florida." The gallery includes video tours labeled by neighborhood, such as Aqualane Shores and Port Royal. A recent news post covers its 10 Sand Dollar Awards, and visitors can download its magazine, London Bay Living.
What to copy: an FAQ on the custom homes page, and one honest article about what building costs in your area.
7. Thompson Custom Homes, Houston
Thompson's homepage names the neighborhoods it has built in for nearly 30 years: the Villages, Tanglewood, River Oaks and West University. Featured homes carry their recognition right under the name, such as "Best in American Living Award Winner." The Press & Awards page lists each magazine feature by publication and issue, including LUXE Interiors + Design, Architectural Digest (August 2025) and Southern Home, plus a 2025 Best in American Living Silver Award for Best Custom Home. The contact page keeps it short: address, phone numbers and email.
What to copy: list press features with the issue date, and tag each featured home with any award it won.
8. Neil Kelly, Oregon and Washington
Neil Kelly's pricing page opens with "What will your remodel cost?" and answers with ranges taken from its own projects. A kitchen "Refresh" runs $55K to $130K, "Replace" $85K to $245K and "Reimagine" $175K to $385K+, and the page breaks a $150K kitchen down by trade. A kitchen cost calculator asks four questions and returns a planning range. The Get Started page tells you what to bring to the first conversation, including a rough scope and what you hope to invest. The homepage also promotes free planning workshops and shows its review score: 4.6 out of 5 from more than 2,200 homeowners.
What to copy: publish price ranges from your own jobs. In Neil Kelly's words, buyers can "place your own project before you talk to anyone."
9. AR Homes, franchise network
AR Homes sells custom homes through a network of local builders, and the homepage is built around three ways to start: Available Homes (move-in ready, near completion and coming soon), plans to personalize, and model homes to tour. The homepage says its designers start from "hundreds of celebrated and award-winning floor plans." The menu also links Our Builders, Design Studios, an FAQ and a customer portal, and visitors can request a free copy of its AR Living magazine.
What to copy: if you carry spec homes or a plan library, give each its own page linked from the homepage.
10. Schumacher Homes, 14 states
Schumacher builds custom homes on the buyer's land, and its Lot Vision tool shows how a floor plan would sit on that land. You enter a parcel ID or address, choose a plan and position it, and the tool shows land contours and a 3D site plan. The site asks for your build location so it can show pricing for your area, and it says every customization is priced individually. The awards page lists NAHB National Gold awards, including Website of the Year and Best Digital Sales Tool.
What to copy: if most of your clients already own land, show how a home fits a lot. Even a short "building on your lot" page with photos of site work helps.
11. MOSS Building & Design, Northern Virginia, DC and Maryland
MOSS's contact page explains what happens after you reach out: a 30-minute virtual discovery session, a one-hour in-home visit with LIDAR measuring, a project presentation with the designer, architect and project manager, and then a $2,500 deposit that is fully refundable through the first design review. The homepage puts its proof in plain numbers: 7,251+ homes, 25 years in the area, and a 4.7 rating from 1,131+ verified Google reviews. It also offers an AI research assistant that answers questions about cost, process and timelines, and a virtual reality design tool that includes a sun study.
What to copy: a short "what happens next" list on your contact page, with how long each step takes.
What the best home builder websites have in common
Across all 11, the same features keep showing up. Use this as a checklist for your own site:
- Projects with names, places and specs. Loudermilk lists style, size, year and location. BOWA, Homoly and Hammer & Hand put the town or neighborhood in the project title.
- A process page written in plain steps. Homoly, Loudermilk, BOWA and MOSS all say what happens at each stage and what the client decides.
- A clear service area. Homoly lists 40 neighborhoods and towns, BOWA lists towns by county, and Living Stone gives each market its own page.
- An inquiry path that says what happens next. MOSS lays out every step after the form, Loudermilk promises a reply within one business day, and Neil Kelly tells you what to bring.
- A form question about where the lead came from. BOWA asks every inquiry how they heard about the company.
- Proof with the program and the year. Living Stone, Thompson and Loudermilk name the award, the program and the year instead of a generic "award-winning" line.
- Cost guidance. Neil Kelly publishes ranges, London Bay explains costs in its market, and Living Stone answers cost and timeline questions on its Asheville page.
- Something to take home. Homoly and London Bay offer magazines, AR Homes offers its AR Living magazine, and Neil Kelly offers a remodel workbook.
How to apply this to your own site
You don't need all of it at once. If your site is thin, this order covers most of the ground:
- Pick your best six to ten projects. Give each a name, the town, the scope and the year, and use your own photos.
- Write your process as five to ten plain steps, with what the client decides at each one.
- Add a Where We Build section that names your towns and neighborhoods.
- Ask for budget range, timeline, location and how they heard about you on the inquiry form, and say when you'll reply.
- List awards and press with the program and year. Leave off anything you can't name.
- Add one cost page or FAQ for your market. Ranges from your own jobs are the most useful.
If you'd rather have it built, we do this for builders and remodelers. See our website packages, or what a builder website costs for named agency prices. Remodelers can also read what a design-build site needs.
FAQ
What is the best website for house building?
No single site is best for every builder. The strongest custom builder sites we reviewed share the same pieces: named projects with location and specs, a step-by-step process page, a clear service area, an inquiry form that says what happens next, and awards shown with the program and year. Schumacher Homes' awards page lists an NAHB National Gold award for Website of the Year.
Who is the highest rated home builder?
Ratings depend on your market, so check local reviews. Nationally, NAHB names one Custom Home Builder of the Year, plus finalists. For 2025 it was Homoly Design + Build in Kansas City, with Loudermilk Homes in Atlanta and Raykon Construction in Spanish Fork, Utah, as finalists.
What is the best website for a construction company?
One that answers a buyer's first questions before they call: what you've built and where, how the process works, which areas you serve, roughly what projects cost, and how to start. BOWA, Neil Kelly and MOSS are good remodeling examples, and Loudermilk and Living Stone are good custom builder examples.
How do I build a website for my construction company?
Start with the content, not the design: your best projects with their town, scope and year, your process, your service area and an inquiry form. Then choose how to build it. A template platform works for a small firm. A specialist agency costs more, and we compare named agency prices on our website cost page.
Can ChatGPT design a website?
It can write code and draft copy for a basic site. It can't choose your best projects, interview you about how you build, or set up an inquiry form and tracking that show which marketing brings in consultations.
Is web design still worth it in 2026?
For builders and remodelers, yes. In Qualified Remodeler's 2026 Top 500 report, company websites supplied 18% of design-build firms' leads, close to the 23.1% that came from referrals.
